My Working Timeline

April 16, 2023 • Reflections

I have worked for myself since the late 90s. I ran my business Inspirational Guidance as a Life Coach and motivational speaker in schools. Mentored teenage girls to improve their self esteem.

A back accident that took 18 months to heal meant I had to find alternative ways of working and I discovered the internet.

I set up my own WordPress website and other professionals asked me to set one up for them. That became my first online business. I came online with a work a job mindset and sold my time for money. I didn't really focus on recurring passive income until late in the game.

I am proud to call myself a GenX digital pioneer. Having started as an affiliate marketer before moving into WordPress development and online marketing.

  • 2007-2010: Founded and ran Women Internet Marketers, bringing together women from the USA, UK, and other countries interested in internet marketing, complete with a podcast before podcasting was mainstream.

  • 2009: Created Dominican Diaspora, a membership site that grew to over 8,000 members and was eventually sold—proving the power of community building in the early social web days. Spoke at an event for writers in Dominica. Interiewed about the network.

  • 2011-2012: Served as membership manager for Blog Success, providing support and guidance to members navigating the then-emerging blogosphere.

  • 2011-2015: Launched Influencers.biz—a WordPress multisite platform long before "influencer" became a buzzword—helping local businesses enhance their online presence through collective blogging and SEO.

  • 2011-2017: Operated Little Fish Digital Media, assisting local business owners with SEO and client acquisition strategies.

  • July 2014 completed a Professional Diploma in Digital Marketing

  • 2017-2020: sold my business and took a break. Got a job. Worked part-time in admin and healthcare.

  • 2020: Slowly made my way back to helping others with online marketing. Begin exploring low content publishing on Amazon.

  • Trained in 2023/2024 as a Full Stack Software Developer. I mean, why not become a coder in your 50s!
Completed Full Stack training with a specialisation in eCommerce. Authenticated certificate is here : Diane Corriette - Full-Stack Software Developer Certification
